It's a nice torch. But it's still just a torch. :\

I'm storyboarding a short right now with lots of flamy bits and smoke. Stay tuned.
Nice music.
Who knew MLP could be relaxing and spa-like?
What's the music?
To Aru Kagaku no Railgun OST 21
Don't submit unfinished things!
Don't submit intros. Especially when they're longer than an episode! Intros are 5 - 20 seconds; no more. Any longer, and they count as a flash all on their own. This flash had no plot, so don't make your intros into flashes.
Also, subtitles should not be in the same language as the spoken words, unless the words cannot be understood.
1. I'll submit intros if I want to
2. They can be as long as I want, and I intended it to be a Flash of it's own.
3. It's not suppose to have a plot, it's an opening you sack of garbage
4. I'll put the subtitles in any language I want.
All of your statements you made were just "personal preferences". I honestly could care less on your personal preference. It's lower than dog shit to me
Don't submit unfinished things or 'tests'.
It's not bad, but it's too short and it's unfinished.
The problem is that this animation is a fragment. It's a piece of what could eventually be turned into a movie, but for now, it's nothing more than a part or a bit.
The problem is not if it's bad, but rather if it's good. When it's bad, it gets a low score and gets blammed and is forgotten and gone. Done.
If it's a 'good' piece, then people get confused and may pass it. The problem is that then we've got a fragment of a piece of a bit of a flash floating around newgrounds forever, and what's the point of that? That's not what Newgrounds is about.
What's here isn't bad. But if it passes, it'll be forever unfinished, because if you complete this into a vid, you'll submit the finished item as a separate item and we'll have both finished and unfinished items floating around here, and that's not what Newgrounds is about.
It's not bad. Just, please send thru completed items. :)
As for helpful advice: Continue to practice and work on your projects, but DON'T submit things in the meantime. Just because you can submit, doesn't mean that you should. There are too many people who get all excited and impatient and decide to submit half finished or even almost finished items. Don't be like them. No one goes 'oh great! He finished it!' Rather, they go '...haven't I seen this before?' which lowers their appreciation of your work.
When you get an idea, PUT MAJOR TIME INTO IT! If you can get it done in a day, you're not done. If it takes you a week, you're probably still not done. I've seen many good ideas that passed but have horribly low scores because they got an idea, belted out a quick animation, submitted it, and now they're stuck with a low score on a crappy flash that was originally a great idea and could've been awesome, but they ruined it by rushing. Taking extra time to take it from good to great will ALWAYS pay off. Not one person who has ever had something in the top 50 got it there by submitting something that wasn't 100% finished and was EXACTLY how they wanted it to be before they submitted it. If you see things that can be made better, make them better! Work on them until they're the best they can be.
Thanks for your advice. It's much needed. You were right about the half finished part. I guess I was just over excited, and also with the music, that must've been some sort of error that happened when I uploaded it because it wasn't supposed to start right there. I think I'll look at the audio tools Newgrounds has and adjust it. I've only been doing flash and animating for a few months, so I'm getting used to the feeling, and which sprites to use, and what to add to make it look more professional, so the next movie I submit will be way better than this. That's also the reason I put "test" on the top because it was part of what could be a major event that I just have to develop. But like you said, people won't like poor quality work, so I'll remember that the next time I release something.
My advice is...
Just keep practicing flash and watching more stuff here on Newgrounds. And DON'T try to submit things in the meantime. If you try to rush it, you'll submit crap. If you try to submit things without ideas, you'll either fill your account with blams or with crap. Then when you get an idea that may be decent, people will see your account has lots of low scoring bits and pieces, and they'll think you don't care. Stay away from Sonic/Mario/Dragon Ball Z/Madness/hentai slideshow -type ideas for flashes. They're over used, over done, quick-fix ideas that will bring in low, but passing scores. They're easy points, but cheap points, and they'll bring the quality of your portfolio down.
So for now, watch and play stuff on Newgrounds. Don't stick to the Top 50 or the stuff that was just submitted. Search out things with scores above 3.50, and things on the pages that are further back than the main page. Take a run thru my favorites. There's good stuff there. Fill your mind with memories.
Eventually, one memory will build on another memory and you'll come up with an original story or idea. Also, listen to music. Not just rock or hip hop or metal or whatever you normally listen to, but mix it up a bit. Eventually, you might hear a song and an idea will pop into your head as you listen. Many songs tell stories that can be animated. Even songs with no words. Ever see the movie Fantasia? All music, no words, great stories.
Thanks for the review, i understand where your coming from. I put alot of effort into this beleive it or not but the end result was preeeetty shitty so im hoping to improve on my second animation which is about halfway done. Thanks for the review even if you hated it.
Newgrounds is for animation.
Youtube is for videos. You've been here long enough to know that. Please submit animations here and videos over there.
Yes I've been here for a long time and submitting animations lot of people know about and I have grown to love you all so much over the years which is why I thought you'd respect the fact that I am trying something new and letting my NG fans know about it.
Tutorials are meant to teach something.
Lemme guess: You came from Youtube and it's your first day on Newgrounds, right? ...Yup.
I could tell before looking at your profile, because you made all the mistakes that youtube people make.
You haven't spent enough time here on Newgrounds yet, because you haven't realized that we don't like youtube around here. We're not happy when someone comes here and starts spouting off about their youtube account or subscribing or their youtube buddies or whatever. If you do that you'll be unpopular right away.
Why? Because a lot of crap comes over here from Youtube. Unfortunately, your submission does little to change our opinions.
Although most things from Youtube end up being video instead of animation, this is kind of both of them. It's a video of someone animating. Slowly, with lots of re-draws, to a repetitive music loop. This doesn't teach anything, so it's not a tutorial. It has no plot, so it's not a story. It's not a game, so it gains you nothing there, either.
Before you submit anything else, I suggest you hang out here for a while and learn about what's cool and not cool around here. Newgrounds is for animation, not videos. However, even the animation needs to have SOME merit to it. Don't submit crap or you'll fill your account with either blams or crap, neither of which are good.
Newgrounds + animations = :D
Youtube + well, anything = >:(
Welcome to Newgrounds. Please think before you submit.
:)
Thanks for that, and good point.
Newgrounds is for animation.
Youtube is for videos. You've been around here long enough to know that.
Please don't submit videos here. Especially if they're stupid videos. Not that you should submit stupid flash animations either, but videos are for Youtube and animations are what Newgrounds is about.
Now, go ahead and mark this as unhelpful if you want to cry and pout about it, but this isn't abusive. I made sure to be nice but also correct in what I said here, and I'm not yelling; I'm just telling the truth. But the Newgrounds community will mark this as helpful because this is what we agree on. This is the way it is: Newgrounds is for animations; Youtube is for videos.
your right. thnx
It takes 435!
If you go at it from the thinner side, anyway. :D
Yup. I know. But it's the truth. :)
...I have no life. :'(
I'll have to count next time.....
...huh?
What, no "Watched til the end" trophy?
:'(
This was good. :)
