What you have is ok, but there's not enough to it, which makes it kinda pointless to submit.

Being new at flash is fine. We all start there. Go to my most recent news post for tips and tutorials that might be helpful.

With that being said, please don't submit tests to the Portal. If you want feedback and tips, that's fine, but this isn't the best place for this. The Portal is for finished items. The Forums are what you want. Load this into your Dumping Grounds. It's the third icon from the left at the very top of the page when you're signed in. It looks like a bucket with an arrow pointing down. Once it's loaded there, copy and paste the link into the Forums (Community>Forums). That way, people see it and give tips, which is what you want, but it's not in the Portal, filling your account with low scores or blams, which you don't want.

Well, and don't submit bad stuff. If you do, it'll fill your account with blams or with crappy submissions, so that's not great for your account, your reputation, or for the site. :/

Hi, and welcome to Newgrounds.

Now, you do know that Newgrounds is for animation and games, right?

The occasional 'real video' does come thru, but the score usually suffers here, because we prefer to stick to animations and games.

This is video, and so this is better suited for youtube. :\

While this was "shot" well, it really wasn't very interesting at all. It dragged along, and the ending was uninspired, with the exception of the dead brother's ghost showing up, I suppose.

But listen to what people tell you about the site. Newgrounds has always been an animation site. That's why you see animations and games everywhere you look.

This was an excerpt from a feature film that I wanted to shoot... this was the least expensive/most interesting ten minutes of the film to shoot. I can fully respect your stance on the film and I will make the necessary changes for the next short film.

I understand that the website is predominantly for Animation/Games... this website takes away much attention from my day job :) I feel that "Filmmaking" is a form of art and Newgrounds is "Everything, By Everyone"... Film is apart of that Everything :)

Wow. While not horrible, it's really not great. :\

It was less of an animation and more of a slideshow. Here are some tips:

1. Animations should be animated. With animation.

2. Don't use gradients on lettering. It makes it hard to read. Keep the color of the letters in stark contrast to the background; black on white is easy to make out, whereas dark blue on black is difficult.

3. Don't write. Use a font for your text. Again, written lettering is hard to read, especially if it must be read quickly. Use the Text tool and type in what you want. And be aware of what font you use as well. If you use a highly stylized font, it'll be hard to read for some people. Use a regular, easy font for your text so your viewers can easily follow along.

I will try to follow your advice, after all its only episode 1! and that was only the intro, further episodes wont have text they will have voice acting :D
