Too many advertisements!

I got 4 ads up before I even got to play anything at all! I gave you a 0 because of it. That's way to many and it affects the enjoyment of the "game," if there was one. I didn't get far enough to find out. ONE ad is ok, 2 ads are annoying, and 4 ads before getting to play anything is ridiculous.

This has potential to be awesome.

But the controls are too glitchy. Sometimes, a tap on the key turns the girl slightly. Other times, a tap on the key turns her 90 or even 180 degrees. Sometimes a tap forward made her go several steps instead of one. This made part 8(?) hard to get thru. You had golden spikes in the wall that you had to weave your way thru; easy enough. But when you can't 'micro-adjust' her angle or how far she goes per step, it made a difficult experience.

This was the case in part 5(?) also, where there are 2 red orbs, and you have your first catwalk to cross. I died several times because it was so hard to get her pointed in the correct direction, and/or she walked off the end with only a tap on the key.

I made it to level 12 and gave up. (I have work I should be doing...) But anyway, the catwalk in this area was so difficult due to the control issues, that it would've been very difficult in itself. In this part, I had the first serious issue with camera angles. The (second) camera was at a bad angle and was too far away to accurately judge what my position and angle were, let alone the spike balls floating around the room. With the control difficulty and the inability to adequately see what I was doing, I called it quits.

I was disappointed that I had to quit too, because the ambiance and mood were great, and the visuals were fantastic. When the first screen came up and said to use the keys to move, I thought, "this is the actual game screen and not a game start graphic?! Wow, nice!" As I played, I felt genuine curiosity and wonder about my environment, and questions about my future. I like the low light scenario. It adds to the feel of the game. The shadowing on the girl often had her front side completely dark, except the eyes, regardless of where the light was. Despite the low light, it would be nice to see her a bit better.

I hope this helps. :)

Stop the zooming!!!

The game looks and sounds great.

However...

The zooming kills it! When you shoot, the screen zooms in on that arrow and stops you from seeing and shooting at other enemies. The view is shaky and slow in zooming in and out, and it's disorienting and confusing. This completely ruined the game and overshadowed any good qualities it had.

Just cuz it's old...

...doesn't mean that someone wouldn't be helped by this. I don't have flash, but I've been looking at Flash MX and CS3. CS4 and CS5 seem to have questionable ratings, and seem to still be kinda expensive, so I'm not sure about them. Who knows, this could teach me something. :)

If a tutorial teaches even one person something new, then it's done its job.

my point exactly, i am actually building a team for flash production out of friends and family and it was made for them

Wow!

What an awesome little game! Cool atmosphere, great music, not too difficult to figure out. Nice ending. Not all questions should be answered all the time. Leaving a question leaves a sense of wonder behind.

Although it's not long or overly complex, I wouldn't be surprised if this gets a spot on the Front Page.

Well done. :)

CloudEater responds:

Thanks much for the review. I would be very happy if it got Frontpage.

0 for you. Sorry.

I gave you a zero for several reasons.

First, your choice of keys. ENTER can be a system key. SHIFT is a system key. If you hit SHIFT 5 times in a row, on some systems it can cause a box to pop up, which is annoying right in the middle of a game. Hold SHIFT for a period of time and it can cause things to happen on other systems. So don't use system keys! Use A, S, D, Z, X, or SPACE bar like everyone else. It's easier as well because then your fingers aren't packed into a small space on the keyboard.

And second, I couldn't get it to work. The arrow keys operated something like a cursor, but it didn't register that it was on anything. Without being able to right click and hit play, cuz that's been disabled, I couldn't go anywhere.

It looked and sounded great. Too bad I couldn't actually do anything. :\

Thank you, il work on changing the fire button. And im sorry you could'nt get it to work, I have fixed the difficulty select screen so you now should be able to start the game, hope you will enjoy it when you get it to work :)

It DOES work. I've been playing for days.

If you go to enter a game and it puts you back at the game selection screen, that means:

1. You missed the start of the game and so it put you back automatically so you can choose another game.

2. It couldn't connect to the server, so try again- a few times if necessary. Sometimes it just can't connect due to volume. Newgrounds does the same thing sometimes.

Some people seem to be having trouble "getting in" so here's the drill:

First, you should see the loading screen with the ShellShock Live Logo. The arc of the shot is the loading bar. After this, the music starts and you'll see the kchamp games logo briefly before you go to the login screen.

Next is the Login screen where you choose to Play As A Guest or to Login if you have an account. This is where you can change your guest name to something other than "player." NOW WATCH CLOSELY.

When you proceed from the Login screen, there are messages that show up in the upper left-hand corner. They have small white letters. There are SIX items that show up before you get to go to the next screen. THESE TAKE SOME TIME TO FINISH. If you have only 3 or 4, then you're not done yet. The screen changes automatically once all SIX are powered on.

The next screen has another login or signup if you want, but it also allows you to PLAY ONLINE or practice in the FIRING RANGE. If you're playing as a guest, stop into the firing range, even if you've played before. Otherwise, it'll pop up the instructions in-game when you go to fire your first shot, and it covers a lot of screen and can be annoying. Once done in the firing range, click MENU in the lower right to return, and choose PLAY ONLINE.

This is the main game selection screen. The available games are those bars on the right side. Pay attention to the game info listed for each game: map, number of turns, number of players, etc. Click one of the game bars to go to join that game.

NOTE: If you click on a game bar and it immediately returns you to the game selection screen, then you've encountered one of the problems I listed above. Keep trying and eventually you'll get in. It's worth the try! The most I ever got reset was about 6 times over approx 1 minute. Then I got in and played for 2 hours! :)

Day is good, but night never ends.

The game is good in the daytime, but the night never ends. At night, once I kill the 30 or 40 zombies, then nothing happens. Night continues. There's no menu or anything. I figure it switches back to 1x time, and there's no way to up it to 5x or 10x time. After a long while, the box pops up that says the attack will start in 3 mins again. Either night takes too long or day never returns. It's good til that happens.

Good game, but...

It still needs some things.

-When I was in the shop, the window blocked the view of how much money I had.

-Needs more levels of power ups and it needs to be clearer that you've actually bought the item. I tried to buy Rapidfire and it went dim, but when I got back to the level, I'm not sure it gave me what I was trying to buy. I did have enough money. I wanted to buy 2x Rapidfire, but with it dimmed, I couldn't click a second time.

-Needs power up vs enemy strength adjustment. By level 4, there were so many enemies on the screen that I couldn't kill them in time. Just concentrating in the enemies from one side STILL allowed those enemies to reach my fire.

Other than these few adjustments, this was a fun game. :)

Like the author comments says, we will be adding all of that and much much more now that the 72 hour Game Jam is over! Let me know if you have any other suggestions!
