It could be alright, but you fell into the trap that many mess up on; the sides aren't even. The enemies from the sides allow for reaction time, but the enemies from the top an bottom have an unfair advantage. When enemies come on from all sides, make all sides the same; make the playfield a square.

Pong has been done way too many times. It wasn't fun in the 70's, and this adds nothing to it. :\

Please don't submit anything that only took 24 hours to create. This is nowhere near ready to be put up. this is not a game, and is barely playable. This same exact template has been submitted MANY times already, so there's really nothing original or interesting about this.

Please don't submit unfinished things to the Portal. If people submit unfinished things, then this will become an unimpressive site. Would you hang out on a site where none of the movies or games are completed? Think about it.

If you want feedback, tips, and ideas, that's fine, but this isn't the best place for this. The Portal is for finished items. The Forums are what you want. Load this into your Dumping Grounds. If you don't know, it's the third icon from the left at the very top of the page when you're signed in. It looks like a bucket with an arrow pointing down. Once it's loaded there, copy and paste the link into the Forums (Community>Forums). That way, people see it and give tips, which is what you want, but it's not in the Portal, filling your account with low scores or blams, which you don't want.

It takes too long for the bars to fill. Plus, having your only real weapon also hurt yourself is bad. :\ This could be good with a few changes, possibly. Also, add music and sounds.

@Exedor - Thanks for your feedback. I made this game in 3 days for Ludum Dare 32, and I agree it definitely needs some difficulty adjustments (and of course music and sound). But I disagree that the foot hurting yourself is bad, it's part of the game.

However, I want to improve the experience by casting a shadow underneath the foot when it's stomping to give players a clear visual indicator on whether they're going to be stomped or not. And, I want to update the 3 bar healing beam to not only heal your character 100% (which it already does) but to also kill all the monsters on the screen at the same time.

I also have some ideas on how to start off slightly easier before it gets intense. Unfortunately though my game is currently in the jam and I'm not supposed to update it...but I might just remove the web version of my game from the contest (I also submitted Mac/Windows versions) so I can update this one to be the best it can be.

Actually you cannot use Mario sprites in games. They're copyrighted Nintendo property, and they DO contact us about it and demand removal.

Don't use SHIFT! it's a system key. If arrows are used for movement, why didn't you use UP for jump, seeing as that's logical? That would then free up the space bar for picking up items. >:|
