Please don't submit things that come from tutorials. They count as public files, since you're not actually creating your own game, you're following steps to re-create someone else's game, and so, that's why they're actually against the rules. Submissions must be your own creation.

This wasn't bad, as far as it looks decent and the controls work. But since it's a Stencyl platform tutorial, it might be removed.

Keep working at it. Just make it all your own.

Good luck. :)

Please do not submit tests or incomplete items to the Portal. If everyone submits parts and bits and incomplete things, who will want to come to Newgrounds? Now, there are domos on here, but this is nowhere near the demo stage. There's just not enough yet.

If you want feedback and tips, that's fine, but this isn't the best place for this. The Portal is for finished items. The Forums are what you want. Load this into your Dumping Grounds. It's the third icon from the left at the very top of the page when you're signed in. It looks like a bucket with an arrow pointing down. Once it's loaded there, copy and paste the link into the Forums (Community>Forums). That way, people see it and give tips, which is what you want, but it's not in the Portal, filling your account with low scores or blams, which you don't want.

Good luck.

sonik1 responds:

I guess so...

Did you try it before you submitted it?

-The platforms come in at random, which makes spaces you can't get to, and they're also too short. As soon as you're on one, you have to jump to another, which sounds like a good game idea, but in reality, it makes for a harried play experience, which is not fun. You're so busy looking at when to jump that you can't look toward the enemies at all. If you have random design features, you have to add code that keeps the game playable. For example: You don't want the spaces to be too large for the character to be able to jump across, or too high to jump to, and you want to be sure the game creates them enough so there's actually somewhere to jump to.

-They move too fast for their short length, so that adds to what I said above.

-When you die, he respawns off-screen, and since you can't see him, he falls and the cycle repeats. See below.

-The enemies don't stop when he dies, they add together. As I was typing this, the game was running above. Suddenly, I noticed that the typing was getting delayed. I scrolled up and the screen was filled with so many enemies and lazers that it looked like red rain and was moving about 1 frame every 4 seconds. Add a pause in the enemies after a death, and/or add a reset to the game after a death so the enemies, score, character, etc all start fresh each time instead of compounding on top of each other.

Hope that helps. :)

It was ok, until...

It told me to click purple, but there was no purple. I clicked red or blue, thinking it might combine them, but nope. Died. Retried...

It split to 4 this time. It told me to click orange, but there's no orange. Been waiting while I type this, but still no orange.

I guess it needs to be told not to ask for a color that's not available at the time it's requested.

BearTreeGames responds:

Yeah, sorry. its a small problem being fixed. Thanks for the feedback :)

Enemies are still too fast. :\

It's getting better, but it's still too rough.

The controls are still extremely rough. It was difficult to maneuver him around.

DON'T use system keys! Shift, Alt, Ctrl are system keys. I don't understand why people use them, when the standard Space Bar is perfectly available. Use the space bar, A, S, or D, NOT system keys.

Locomotivator responds:

If it wasn't shit I would be charging money for it.
